The new novel, Contract Law, launches tomorrow, Tues Nov 12! The launch is being held at Planet Books in Mount Lawley, starting at 7pm. There will be snacks, and drinks, and a reading (or maybe two).
I’m excited about this – it’s only really my second proper book launch, even though this will be my 6th novel to be released. And Planet Books are going to be putting some up on their festive reading suggestions shelves this December! So if you miss out on the launch and don’t want to buy a physical copy online, or buy a digital ebook copy, you can get physical copies there.
And for a tiny little teaser of the novel…
“No sign of the fetch, then, so far,” said Marius.
“Not yet,” said the demon. “Although people are nervous about something.”
“You’re sure that isn’t just you?” Marius said without really thinking.
The demon snickered, and Marius released a breath he hadn’t been aware of holding.
“I’m quite good at passing unnoticed when I want to,” said the demon. “I wouldn’t be much of a hunter if I couldn’t do that. You are particularly sensitive to my presence, given our connection.”
Its amusement tingled through the bond, and Marius twitched.
“That is still very odd,” he said.
“It’s certainly interesting,” said the demon. “The things that spook you are decidedly unexpected. Some of them at least.”
“I keep forgetting that you can tell what I’m feeling, too,” said Marius. “I should probably meditate more.”
“Don’t mute your emotional responses on my account, pet,” said the demon.
After a long pause, Marius said, “Well. Meditation doesn’t really mute emotions, just helps sort them out. I do think I’d prefer not to startle like a spooked horse every time you do something unexpected, though.”
“Unexpected, hmm?” said the demon. “Is that what it is?”
It smirked at him, a tiny, dangerous curve of the corner of its mouth. Marius swallowed and dragged his eyes away from the demon.
“Mostly,” he said.
Happy Monday everybody 🙂
